Legacy's Guidelines to COVID-19

Dear Legacy Members and Guests,
The elders and ministers at Legacy have been in discussion about the current health issues surrounding the pandemic of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and we want to assure our Legacy family that every member’s safety and well-being is a top priority.  As we are all hearing announcements from organizations and authorities in the DFW area and across the nation, large public gatherings (conferences, sporting events, schools, etc.) are limiting, suspending or cancelling these events along with communicating the safety steps when a person attends any public gathering. Our Federal, State and Local governments have strongly discouraged large group meetings.  Our universities have extended spring breaks and in some cases discontinued onsite teaching in favor of completing this semester’s work online.  Many, many events have been cancelled.  Legacy is part of the described, “large group gathering community.” Because we are a church with a significant attendance of high risk members (over 60 with varying degrees of health conditions) we will likely be more susceptible than most groups to the effects of the virus.
We want to update you of the short term direction for our Legacy family and the use of the church building. Our primary mission pertaining to this health issue is to decrease the potential spread of COVID-19 and mitigate further health impacts on our entire church family and the community that worships with us. Until further notice, the Legacy Church of Christ family will be adhering to the following guidelines pertaining to worship times and scheduled activities.
On Sunday mornings (beginning with this Sunday, March 15th), there will be no Bible classes
There will be only one Sunday morning worship service that will begin at 10:45 AM, with the main purpose being to broadcast the live worship time to our entire Legacy family.
We strongly encourage everyone to follow common sense personal hygiene guidelines.
Self-quarantine or just stay home as appropriate (and watch Sunday AM service on-line), especially anyone who is sick in any way, has traveled to any known COVID 19 “hot spot” or is in an at-risk demographic.
Please do not come to the building or attend worship services if you have a cough, fever, sniffles, diabetes, pulmonary impediments, etc. – if communion supplies are needed, please contact the church office.
Even if you have a minor sign of illness, please stay at home.
We do not want anyone to feel guilty or uncomfortable if they decide to remain at home and worship online with our church family. This is a serious health issue in America and everyone’s health and safety is a priority.
If you decide to attend worship on Sunday mornings, please follow these guidelines
No physical contact… VERBAL GREETINGS ONLY. This will enhance the health safety for all.
Use the bulk sanitizer stations that will be located throughout the concourse and at the entrance to the worship center.
Individual communion servings will be used and will be located in baskets as you enter the worship center
The “Common Grounds” coffee shop will be closed
The Emergency Response Team (ERT) will be encouraging anyone who arrives with visible signs of health issues that it is not a good decision to attend worship with the large gathering.
The Sunday Morning Worship Service WILL BE BROADCAST LIVE so that everyone who stays at home will be able to worship together and gather around the Lord’s table with our Legacy family
The services can be viewed online on any computer, tablet or mobile phone on any of the following three locations
Legacy Facebook page
YouTube – search for “Legacy Church Of Christ”, select latest
Vimeo – search for “Legacy Church Of Christ”, go to “People” tab, select latest
The worship service will be planned by our worship ministry team to be very “internet friendly” so that everyone viewing online will be blessed with their time of worship and praise to God.
All Wednesday night classes, meetings and Wednesday night meals will be discontinued until further notice.
There will be no nursing home, rehab or senior living visitations. Please send cards and make phone calls to provide encouragement and love to any shut-ins or those that are ill and confined.
All scheduled meetings or gatherings at the church building of any Legacy ministry group are cancelled until further notice.
We encourage every small group to “check-in” (by phone) with each group member to see if they are in need of any assistance.
Your support of these guidelines is extremely important as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 issue. We ask our Heavenly Father to watch over our church family along with every family around the world that has been impacted by this virus and guide us through this difficult health issue. We will keep everyone informed if and or when these guidelines need to be updated.
May our Heavenly Father guide and protect us in the days ahead.
Your elders and ministers
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
