This year, we’re introducing a brand-new adventure for our group: a Canoe Trip. While many of you have experienced the Colorado Wilderness Trek, this trip will offer a fresh but equally powerful way to grow in faith, friendship, and resilience. The beauty of a canoe trip is that it naturally fosters communication, teamwork, and relationship-building. Just like Trek, we’ll be camping outdoors and learning to rely on what we carry—but this time, it’s not on our backs. Everything we need will be packed into our canoes and carried with us as we journey down the river. Over two nights on the river, we’ll set up camp, cook meals, and experience life together in a slower, more connected rhythm. We’ll also spend time off the river at a dude ranch (zip line, mountain biking, and more) where larger team challenges and activities will push us to grow closer as a group. And just like Trek, there will be moments for silence and solitude, giving each of us space to hear God’s voice in creation. Evenings will bring us together around the campfire, where we’ll share stories, worship, and reflect on how God is moving in our lives. This is more than just a trip—it’s an opportunity to journey together, to depend on one another, and to discover God in a new way. It’s different from Trek, but it carries the same heart: stretching ourselves, deepening relationships, and encountering God in His creation.
We need to have good water levels and flow so that is why we are making this our first trip of the summer. We will pack up the vehicles Wednesday night June 3rd for our outdoor adventure down the Buffalo National River. Then we will leave Legacy Church of Christ early in the morning on Thursday June 4th. We will put in at Poncha and take out at Pruitt for a 23.9 mile stretch featuring the best scenery the Buffalo National River has to offer, including majestic Big Bluff and many other beautiful bluffs along the way. We will return sometime late Monday June 8.
